GENERAL PROGRAM INFORMATION

CTE programs of study are intentionally designed to build upon a set of knowledge and skills that deepen in content and naturally prepare and progress a student through this learning. Students are required to take courses in the appropriate sequence to ensure successful completion of capstone experiences, such as work-based learning opportunities, and industry certification exams. Each year the state of Tennessee releases an update program of study guide. You can view the current program of study guide and correct sequences of courses HERE.

As students work their way through sequenced courses, students will achieve concentrator and/or completer status allowing students to transition seamlessly into industry and postsecondary.  It is the goal of Cumberland County's CTE program for every CTE student to be a concentrator in at least one program of study they choose to explore during high school.

CTE Concentrator

  • A student who completes 2 more CTE courses in sequence, in a specified program of study.

CTE Completer

  • A student who completes 3 or more CTE courses in sequence, in a specified program of study.
The state of Tennessee and Cumberland County Schools works to ensure each program of study offered is reflective of statewide labor, economic, and postsecondary opportunities that provide students with viable career paths.  With this annual reviews are conducted which can result in changes in course offerings.  To see the most current list of courses and programs please reference Cumberland County School's Course Catalog.
